Song Background:
After the death of Freddie Gray at the hands of Baltimore police, riots just like the ones in Minneapolis broke out. Media on both sides of the spectrum were running 24/7 coverage of the event, and with the infamous line of "that's not how you should protest." BUT at the EXACT same time there was a peaceful Million Man March in DC that NO news channels were talking about. I literally only found out about it from people that were at the event. It prompted me to write this song "Selective Coverage" that tried to depict just how different black and brown people are portrayed in the media, and with the tweets from our president/dictator, it is horrifically clear that it is still very much the case. The melody and form of the song are my best attempt at portraying the notion that as a country whenever we take two steps forward, we take one step back. I truly think it's one of my most honest compositions and if you need some anthem music, it is free to download on my Bandcamp page.
